Highlights
11th century Shiva temple, part of the ancient city of Kiratkoop. Iconography culmination of Gupta tradition with regional characteristics of Parmara and Chalukyan traditions. Temple subjected to the ravages of nature and iconoclast activities. Inventorisation of damaged parts, archaeological investigation of surrounding context, consolidation of the damaged Jagati, and preservation of stone components were the key highlights. Proposal included delineation of a Heritage Trail, signage, exhibition space for damaged sculptures and provision of basic tourist infrastructure at the site.
