Conservation and Development of Tourist Facilities at Pracheen Prasada Kumher

Highlights

A huge fortified palace complex built by Suraj Mal in 1730 A.D. In 1754 A.D. Marathas laid siege on Kumher. The entire complex was severely damaged. Removal of debris from the complex, consolidation of damaged masonry, repair of damaged stone components and wooden ceiling, restoration of main entrance gateway were the key highlights of the project. Apart from these the proposal included revival of the traditional water harvesting system, integration with the adjoining Jal Mahal complex and adaptive reuse of spaces as “Cultural Node” of the historic Kumher town.
