Conservation and Development of Tourist Facilities at Jal Mahal Kumher

Highlights

Adorned with exquisite carvings, architecture of the Jal Mahal resembles the summer complex at Deeg. The building including the water body attached to it had been continuously neglected, vandalized, subjected to severe weathering agents. Redoing the severely damaged brick roofing, consolidation of damaged masonry, restoration of the collapsed portions, removal of vegetation, repair of damaged stone components were the key highlights. Apart from these the proposal included revival of the traditional water harvesting system, integration with the adjoining Pracheen Prasada palace complex and adaptive reuse of spaces as “Cultural Node” of the historic Kumher town.
